The back and sides on this guitar are Madagascar rosewood (dalbergia baroni), a true rosewood from Africa. The top is Adirondack spruce. The bolt-on neck is one-piece mahogany, with ebony fingerboard. The pyramid bridge is also made from ebony. The nut and saddle are bone. Following pre-war Style 21, it has a herringbone rosette, faux tortoise binding, but it has wood instead of plastic purfling. It departs from style 21 in that the backstrip and end graft are Madagascar rosewood trimmed with maple. This guitar is finished with water-borne lacquer.
This guitar sounds great — to me it sounds responsive, full, but sweet. Played with a pick, it is a cannon (although it is setup for fingerstyle playing). Let me know if you want it set up for playing with a pick.

The sound on this guitar is not flawed at all. However there are small problems with the fit and finish (which is why it is at least $3,000 less than a similar production guitar). The neck finish is average, e.g., the neck is stained, but not completely uniform in color. There is a sound hole flaw where the fingerboard and hole meet. The glossy finish on the back and sides is not uniform.
